It has been more than a year since the cursed day that I made the stupidest decision of my life and lost everything, and all that’s left is to warn others so they can stay safe. Safe from the curse of Kalyan Pathuri, the President and CEO of Futuris Company. The worst part of this whole process was that I was not scammed out of money alone, but he took my trust, and my friendship too. I still remember clearly how we interacted with him for the very first time.

HOW DID I COME TO BE IN PATHURI’S ACQUAINTANCES?

It was a Wednesday morning and I was at the local government office for some personal business matters. There he was, standing in line right next to mine at the counter. A pleasant guy with an aura that spoke of the success in his life. Maybe that was my most prominent mistake, to think that he was trustworthy. Our conversation started in that line and as we got out of the office, we exchanged contact details and agreed to meet up sometime later too.

Over the period of the next few months, we became quite good friends. He was a baseball fan like myself and we used to go to matches and argue over our favourite players. We became bestest of friends. Confiding each other in all sorts of matters. From family to financial. Being the cunning scammer he was, he soon got a little too aware of my dreams and goals, including the short term goal of finding a good investment opportunity to get behind. As much as I regret it now, I made all of that happen because I thought of him as my friend.

PRESIDENT FUTURIS COMPANY’S GAMES UNRAVELING

To be honest, it was the downfall journey from that point onwards. He told me how he built up the Futuris Company empire from practically nothing. Being a good friend and impressed by his bragging of the company’s progress, I even bought the company’s shares under the ticker FTRS at first. But then the circle of his bragging started to expand, as he has seen the effect his words were having on me. he mentioned how Futuris Company was all set for a major expansion and was looking for the right candidates to invest in it, because it was a ‘golden opportunity that couldn’t be given away for nothing’.

he was indirectly talking me into investing and i was stupid enough to fall for it. Kalyan Pathuri continued to pump me into investing without ever mentioning it directly, up until the very moment that I asked him for it- and he agreed in an instant. If I had thought about it for a moment before letting the friendship cloud my judgement, I would have known better, but I fell right into his trap. I agreed to invest and he was beyond thrilled that I was going to be the one that was going to reap the benefits of the expansion that he was about to work hard towards, and I was happy to be partners too.

A DEPICTION OF WHAT COMES FROM TRUSTING KALYAN PATHURI

The moment the funds went through, his behaviour changed. it went from not having time to hang out, to not having time and not picking up calls. At first, I thought he was working hard on the expansion like he had said, but when a lot of time had gone by without any official contact from Futuris Company or Kalyan Pathuri himself, I was worried. I called his office one day and was told that he was out of the country on a vacation. it seemed way too odd in the middle of a hectic period for the company, so i asked. only to be told that no such expansion was taking place any time soon.

It all came crashing down to put it simply. I could not comprehend if that was a joke, or if I had just gotten scammed. having known a man for so long, a man with a reputation like that, it never hits you until it hits you. After confirming my facts, this was all I could do.
